Calloway County is hosting a free birdwatching event on Saturday, October 10th. No prior birdwatching experience is needed. Participants will listen for and watch for local and migrating birds.
Pre-Registration is requested and closes on October 8th. Participants will start at a gravel parking area near the Wildcat Boat Ramp. Specific GPS coordinates will be emailed to all participants and signs will be posted the day of the event. On-site check-in will start at 8:00 a.m., and the birdwatching will begin at 8:30 a.m. The event will conclude at 11:00 a.m. with a hike of approximately one mile. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars as optics enhance the birding experience.
Happy Chambers, an avid field birder, bird bander for US Fish and Wildlife and a wildlife enthusiast, will lead this experience. She has spent 45 years birding around Kentucky. She will share her knowledge of the birds around Kentucky Lake and Calloway County.
