Celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Tennessee River Valley at the 37th Annual Oakville Indian Mounds Festival in Lawrence County, Alabama. Held at the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center, this free event invites visitors to experience and learn about Native American history and traditions rooted in the region.
Through live demonstrations, hands-on activities and storytelling, attendees can explore how the Tennessee River has long shaped the lives, cultures and communities of those who have called this valley home. The festival features Native American music, drum and dance, living history displays, flintknapping and traditional skills demonstrations, as well as guided experiences like plant and herb walks and canoe rides on the park’s waters.
The festival is open to registered school groups on May 8 and to the general public on May 9.
